Over 80 members of the Lincoln Young Professionals Group and Greater Omaha Chamber Young Professionals attended YP Day at the Capitol on Thursday, February 6.

The sold-out event provided the chance for the young professionals to obtain foundational information about political parties, the function of local government and the history of the capitol.

Four Companies Selected for Awards

The Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development (LPED) has announced four recipients of the LaunchLNK program for 2020. LaunchLNK helps startups get established and grow in Lincoln by providing funding, resources and opportunities.

Layer, Pawlytics, BrandPlan, and FileFuse have been named as recipients of the LaunchLNK award. The LaunchLNK program provides startups with a $25,000 grant, connections to mentors and potential corporate partners and professional services from HBE, Cline Williams, Suiter Swantz, Eakes Office Solutions and Firespring.

Area Companies Begin Manufacturing Program

There are many reasons why our local economy continues to hum along and flourish. But work remains in the efforts to connect talented individuals and career paths to local businesses.

In Lincoln's economy, manufacturing continues to be a vital sector and one that is important to every corner of the state. Many people have never worked in manufacturing and are not aware of the multiple shifts and career pathways possible. The latest figures show that the manufacturing sector will continue to grow and upwards of 1,000 new jobs could be available in our community by 2024.

Over 800 Attend Hour of Code Event at Innovation Campus

While understanding computer science takes a great deal of comprehension and learning over time, it’s also something that can be taught and developed at an early age.

Lincoln participated once again in this year’s worldwide event known as Hour of Code.
