NMotion to Expand Statewide
Plans to scale 24 companies over the next two years

NMotion, powered by gener8tor, today announced $3.7 million in new investments that will start and grow 24 Nebraska startups over the next two years, expand the startup accelerator’s programming to serve startups statewide, and create an Omaha location at Millwork Commons. NMotion will provide investment, support, mentorship and access to in-state and out-of-state capital to early-stage small businesses and startups throughout Nebraska.

"The startup ecosystem in Lincoln is strong and we want to continue to build on that and produce more success stories right here in our own backyard. The success we have had to this point is why peer communities across the country look to Lincoln to see what we are doing," says Luke Peltz, vice president of the Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development.

Startups and small businesses that successfully compete for a place in the accelerator programs will each receive $100,000 investments from NMotion through gener8tor’s venture fund and Invest Nebraska. In addition, NMotion will hold free, in-person and virtual programming and office hours throughout the year for any interested startups and small businesses throughout the state.

"NMotion’s expanded programming and investment is one more tool we have in Lincoln, Omaha, and Greater Nebraska to encourage and develop these startups to become the next big success story.  The startup ecosystem in Lincoln will remain strong because of all the partners that are investing in the region, and we look forward to seeing what is next from NMotion!" Peltz adds.

“This is an exciting day in Nebraska as we announce a major expansion of NMotion to grow startups statewide,” said Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts. “Nebraska currently has the highest employment in state history, and we saw record venture capital investment in 2021. By serving startups, NMotion will help generate even more great-paying jobs to help retain our graduates and recruit new talent to our state. Thank you to the many investors whose generosity is allowing NMotion to accelerate the growth of young companies in Nebraska.”

“As a hub of the Silicon Prairie, Lincoln celebrates NMotion and the work they have done locally - and now will do statewide - to support entrepreneurs and accelerate economic opportunity,” said Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird. “The 24 companies that will launch and grow as a result of today’s multi-million-dollar investment will create new jobs and demonstrate the abundant ingenuity and innovation we are cultivating here.”

“Bringing NMotion to Omaha provides our city with a critical economic development tool that will create opportunities for Omaha-grown innovation to start, stay, and thrive in our community,” said Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert. “With Omaha as the long-standing hub for Nebraska’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, we will continue to make progress toward our goals to increase employment, attract new business and talent to our city through the companies that will now start here.”

“NMotion has been a catalyst for Lincoln to boost its entrepreneurial ecosystem and has generated investments for the best and brightest in their community,” said gener8tor Partner Maggie Brickerman. “With Lincoln, Omaha, and greater Nebraska working together, the entire state will experience the empowerment and investments that NMotion provide. gener8tor could not be prouder to partner with them to ensure that Nebraska continues to be one of the best places to start a business.”

“What started as a local program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to help underserved and undercapitalized founders startup businesses in Lincoln has today grown into a statewide resource and investor in the next generation of Nebraska-grown companies,” said NMotion Board of Directors Chair, Brad Roth. “The launch of this fund and the expansion of NMotion to Omaha are ground-breaking next steps in the evolution of Nebraska’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. We are excited to be a leader and partner fostering innovation across our state.”
