NMotion, gener8tor Expand Partnership
Building Startups from Scratch

Startup accelerators NMotion and gener8tor have announced an expanded partnership that includes the launch of the NMotion Accelerator Studio in Fall 2020 and the continuation of the gBETA Lincoln pre-accelerator program.

The NMotion Accelerator Studio will solicit applications from individuals and teams (“Co-Founders”) with the goal selecting five teams to each build a startup from scratch. Selected participants receive $100K in investment capital per team and work closely with NMotion and gener8tor staff to build, design, launch and iterate on new products or services over the course of 16 weeks.

Co-Founders may be selected to: (1) execute on product/service concepts internally incubated by gener8tor; (2) conceive of and execute on brand new product/service concepts; (3) collaborate with gener8tor’s Project North corporate partners on devising a new startup from scratch; or (4) partner with one of NMotion’s investors around ideas, grand challenges, problems and technologies relevant to their businesses.

Local investors and funders in this new venture capital model include Ameritas, Assurity, Invest Nebraska, Greater Lincoln Chamber Foundation, Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development, Nebraska Angels, Nelnet, Union Bank & Trust, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

gener8tor and NMotion share a belief that supporting the community’s best and brightest as they launch and grow companies creates a virtuous cycle of wealth and job creation. The accelerator studio model builds on this mission by helping talented founders create something completely from scratch that may never have otherwise existed.

“We are thrilled to create this opportunity in our community,” said Christina Oldfather, NMotion Board of Directors and Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development. “Pairing talent with major resources to disrupt and innovate will create new pathways to entrepreneurship right here in Lincoln.”

This partnership builds on the success of gBETA NMotion, a free, seven-week pre-accelerator for startups with local roots that requires no fees and no equity. Fifteen Nebraska-based startups participated in gBETA NMotion in 2019 - 10 in industry-agnostic cohorts, and five focused on AgTech. This program will be rebranded as gBETA Lincoln, and will continue to run once per year as part of the expanded partnership.

gBETA Lincoln and the NMotion Accelerator Studio connect Nebraska’s startup ecosystem to gener8tor’s nationwide network, which includes programs in Beloit, Wisconsin; Birmingham, Alabama; Cheyenne, Wyoming; Cincinnati; Cleveland; Detroit; Greater Minnesota, Houston; Indianapolis; Los Angeles; Madison, Wisconsin; Milwaukee; Minneapolis-St. Paul; Northeast Wisconsin; Pensacola, Florida; and Toronto.

“We are seeking to find and invest in the best entrepreneurs and ‘would-be’ entrepreneurs interested in building a venture-backed startup from scratch in Lincoln,” said Troy Vosseller, Co-Founder of gener8tor. “These include serial entrepreneurs looking for a new start, recent college graduates, career transitioners, technologists and graduate students with deep domain expertise.”

The NMotion Accelerator Studio is currently accepting applications for both a Managing Director and Program Manager that will together be responsible for operating both programs. Interested applicants can learn more at www.gener8tor.com/careers. Applications are also open for co-founders who would like to participate in the program at www.nmotion.co/accelerator-studio.
