Verizon wireless buildingCiting Nebraska’s favorable business climate and Lincoln’s highly educated workforce as key factors, Verizon Wireless chose to open the doors of its newest customer service center in Lincoln. The $33 million state-of-the-art facility is housed in the University of Nebraska Technology Park. The company will employ nearly 800 people from the Lincoln area.

The Lincoln Customer Service Center is the company’s first in the five-state Great Plains Region (which includes Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa). The center will provide support for the region’s customers with questions on billing, price plan changes, voice and data products and equipment.

The company chose Lincoln less than a year after it started serving the Lincoln market with cell phone service. According to a company representative, Verizon looked at several cities but after investigating all options, it was evident that Lincoln was the ideal site for the project.
